| Medical We currently recruit for a large number of hospitals, clinics, industrial settings and support roles exclusively for the Middle East and have opportunities for professionals in all specialities and sub-specialities of and allied to the Health Services. Locations range from private, military and government hospitals, clinics serving industrial sites and airport medical centres. These facilities are situated in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia; less commonly, vacancies arise in Egypt and the Lebanon. Most medical posts are for Medical Director, Chief of Department, Senior Consultant or Consultant level posts but occasionally, junior posts do arise (mostly in the UAE). REQUIREMENTS: The requirements to qualify for posts vary according to the location, hospital and post being offered but, in general, the following should give an indication: Chief of Department: Requires seven years work experience post-American Board, UK Fellowship/Membership, Canadian or Australian equivalents (South African Nationals with UK Fellowships also considered). Work experience must have been gained in a large, acute Western Hospital and 2-3 years previous, recent experience as a Chief of Department or Deputy in the selected speciality. Senior Consultant: Requires three to five years work experience following American Boards, Fellowship, etc (see above). Would need Specialist/Consultant experience in the speciality selected and gained in a large, acute Western Hospital setting. Specialisation qualifications/certificates would offer candidates a definite advantage. Consultant: Requires two to four years work experience following Boards or Fellowship for Saudi Arabia/Kuwait (in excess of four years at Consultant level for the UAE). Work experience gained in an acute Western setting at Registrar, Senior Registrar or Consultant level. The salaries for these posts vary considerably and range between UK £ 37,000 to UK £ 73,000. Free accommodation with utilities, paid annual leave, free flights, study leave and recreational facilities form part of these contracts. Educational allowances for dependent children is becoming uncommon but is still available in some locations. Contracts and salaries for Medical Director posts vary and are subject to negotiation. The requirements for these posts are specific to the type, size and location of the facility. The greatest areas of recruitment urgency are for female medical staff, especially in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Consultant Radiologists. Dermatology, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Nephrology and specialist Dentistry (Paedodontics, Orthodontics, etc) are extremely under subscribed areas of recruitment at the present time.
