Head of Maintenance

Core Functions
To supervise and guide a team of Senior Maintenance, and protection Engineers, Maintenance Engineers and Technicians in the task of maintaining the network and associated equipment throughout Qatar

Major Duties and Responsibilities

1. Supervisees and guide a team of Expert Engineers and Technicians for smooth operation & maintenance of the entire Distribution Network and the associated equipments throughout Qatar.
2. Prepares with other concerned staff as maintenance planning engineer, contracts engineers and maintenance senior engineers the annual and 3 years budget proposals ( maintenance tenders)
3. Share and Review the preparation and, adjudication of tender documents with all concerned.
4. Review and approve the annual and weekly preventive and corrective maintenance plans.
5. Oversees all aspects of the day-to-day management of Maintenance works; monitors and coordinates work performed by engineering.
6. Oversees, Manages and supervises the Maintenance contracts, and ensure proper utilization of resources as well Quality Control.
7. Review the underrated and outdated list of switchgears in service and maintenance, and replacement plan of electrical distribution equipments, confirm compatibility with maintenance section achievements.
8. Identifies the weaknesses of the system from the operational point of view and forwards suggestions/recommendations to the appropriate sections for remedy and direction of senior engineers and maintenance engineers for the most effective solutions of the network problems.
9. Establishes, and confirm compatibility of guidelines and procedures for subordinate staff.
10. Coordination with other Departments regarding the improvement of Electrical Distribution system, and suggest the new technology, ideas, and materials to achieve that purpose.
11. Review the technical Evaluations of the new maintenance contracts with other concerned senior engineer.
12. Review the technical Evaluation of the required materials either new or existing also ensure with other concerned the availability of maintenance equipment and materials.
13. Shares experiences with the other related Sections/Departments for introduction of the latest technology in the field of Electricity Distribution.
14. Oversees the performance of all maintenance and protection units during the execution of their activities and measure and improve their performance.
15. Prepares, and reviews the performance appraisals of maintenance staff.
16. Leads the maintenance works meetings, direct all concerned staff to approach the high quality achievements.
17. Oversees, Follows up and investigates faults in the 415V network from reporting to restoration of supply.
18. Investigates, and reviews the third party damage claim and forward it to the concerned Dept.
19. Establishes the necessary co-ordination with other Sections/Dept. to ensure smooth flow of work.
20. Review, and prepare the authorization programs, and the trainee programs of new employees, qatarization programs, and Qatari's staff trainee programs.
21. Oversees electrical distribution network performance to confirm quality of maintenance work and performance of maintenance staff to achieve the quick and swift supply restoration in case of 415V faults.
22. Oversees the movements of Diesel Generators during system crises or execution of maintenance programs.
23. Ensure the fully compliance of maintenance staff to the maintenance code of practice and safety rules.
24. Oversees all administrative duties of maintenance staff.
25. Review of Specifications as and when required.
26. Performs other related duties as needed upon request by the immediate supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibility

Supervises the Maintenance and protection senior Engineers, and follow up their daily activities and totality of the maintenance section

Qualification Requirements: (Minimum Requirements)
Education & Training (e.g. BS in Electrical Engineering, post-secondary secretarial training, etc) :

B Sc in Electrical Engineering (Power)

Job Experience (e.g.: 5-year experience in the relevant field of work)

At least 12 years of which 5 years experience in the construction of Distribution Networks

Nature of Supervision Received
(e.g. very close where supervision and instructions are continually provided in every step of the work/process and the outcome of the work is inspected/reviewed; or work is reviewed in conformance to established guidelines/procedures; or, operates under broad policy guidelines; etc.)

Work Environment

90% office and A/C environment and 10% site work

Other Significant Requirements
(e.g. Knowledge Skills & Abilities, e.g. able to read, write & speak English as a second language)

• Good knowledge of Distribution Planning and manpower management
• Fluent in the speaking, reading and writing of English
• The ability to pin point work priorities
• Ability to organize work during emergency cases or faults.
• Aware of Maintenance code of practices.
• Leadership abilities, to lead team of senior engineers, engineers, foremen, techncians.
• Good communications and initiative skills.
• Senior Authorization of HV switching operation
