Senior Engineer (Distribution Control)

Core Functions
Responsible for the performance of the Distribution Network and to keep the Network safe, reliable & secured at all circumstances and preparing the operation policy of the Distribution Network.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assist the Head of section day by day activates.
2. Prepares and implements the operation policy of the Distribution Network.
3. Participates in the KAHRAMAA (KM) meeting for preparing the maintenance schedules and other activities.
4. Supervises and Responsible for the Operation of Distribution Control Center, SCADA and Emergency Operation Engineers'.
5. Prepares the Load Shedding Lists, VIP lists.
6. Standby all the time for any abnormal / emergency in the Electricity Network.
7. Proposes technical suggestions to improve system operations.
8. Prepares short/long term solutions to the problems faced by electrical networks.
9. Prepares the technical reports on a monthly, yearly basis and whenever it is required by higher management
10. Performs other related duties as needed upon request by the immediate supervisor.
11. Presenting the abnormal report and emergences.
12. Preparing the emergency plans.
13. Scheduling the customer outages request with the operation engineers.
14. Attending and approving the scheduled network weekly outages.
Supervisory Responsibility
The unit Distribution Control and its responsibilities and functions.
Qualification Requirements: (Minimum Requirements)
Education & Training (e.g. BS in Electrical Engineering, post-secondary secretarial training, etc) :
BSc in Electrical Engineering
Job Experience (e.g.: 5-year experience in the relevant field of work)
15 Years experience in Power System / System Control & Have Authorization Certificate
Nature of Supervision Received
(e.g. very close where supervision and instructions are continually provided in every step of the work/process and the outcome of the work is inspected/reviewed; or work is reviewed in conformance to established guidelines/procedures; or, operates under broad policy guidelines; etc.)

Distribution Operation Memorandum.
Safety Rules and Regulations Book.
SCADA User's Guide.
Distribution Code of Practice.
Black-out & Black-start Procedure.

(e.g. telephone contact to gather information/data; coordinate/arrange...etc.)
24 hrs direct contact with Management and Distribution Department Sections for information and operational purposes.
Physical Requirements
Physical Demand of the Work
A high degree of mental efforts is required where a cool head necessary under stressful emergency situations.
Medically fit
Work Environment
90% office and A/C environment and 10% outside office.
Other Significant Requirements
(e.g. Knowledge Skills & Abilities, e.g. able to read, write & speak English as a second language)
• Strong Knowledge of Power System Operation.
• Almost 10 years experience as Control Engineer.
• Knowledge of Computer DMS & SCADA System.
• Leadership skill to lead a team of Engineers & Technical Assistants.
• Must pass Senior Authorization Test.
• Fluent in English (S/W/R).
• Ability to think quickly, logically and take decisions having for reaching consequences on real-time bases.
• Ability to communicate clearly.
