Core Functions
To implement the GIS Technology in the Corporation and to convert the Electricity data to digital format and disseminate the data for an effective and efficient usage within the Corporation and also by other GIS agencies.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
1. Prepares and documents the User Need Study and updates it on a regular basis.
2. Compiles the Data Dictionary in line with the National GIS Steering Committee Standards and Specifications. Updates it on a regular basis.
3. Coordinates with the other sections for procuring data and converting it into GIS format.
4. Identifies the potential end-users, coordinate with them in identify their requirement and the deliver it to them.
5. Dictates the access privileges for the public data keeping the secrecy and policies of the Corporation.
6. Directs the Technologists and System Administrator for the smooth running of GIS activities and GIS Systems.
7. Directs the System Administrator for the system configuration, cost estimation and give the feedback to the higher official for the delivery of systems required.
8. Keeps abreast of any new technology in GIS, assess it in reference to the Corporation Guidelines and get aquatinted of the same and implement it.
9. Makes plans to training the end users for the GIS Technology
10. Performs other related duties as needed upon request by the immediate supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibility
Manage the section Network database and all the staff and their functions
Qualification Requirements: (Minimum Requirements)
Education & Training (e.g. BS in Electrical Engineering, post-secondary secretarial training, etc) :
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering equivalent
Job Experience (e.g.: 5-year experience in the relevant field of work)
Minimum 10 Years of Experience with 2 years in a supervisory role
Nature of Supervision Received
(e.g. very close where supervision and instructions are continually provided in every step of the work/process and the outcome of the work is inspected/reviewed; or work is reviewed in conformance to established guidelines/procedures; or, operates under broad policy guidelines; etc.)
Operates with freedom under the policy guidelines of the Corporation and supervision by Manager to ensure the implementation of GIS Technology in the Electricity Network Affairs in particular and in the Corporation at large.
Applicable Guidelines / Manuals Required
National GIS standards, Electricity Data Dictionary, User Needs Study, GIS Data Specification, ESRI Standards and Guidelines.

Other Corporation Directors, Managers, Department Heads and GIS Agencies to collect and dispense GIS related information.

100% Office and A/C environment, other Corporation offices, CGIS and other GIS agencies.

• Good communication skills both oral and written. Fluent in English.
• Able to supervise and motivate GIS Staff.
• Good skill of convincing the end users of the GIS Technology
