OVERALL OBJECTIVE/ROLE:
Reporting to the Internal Audit Manager, the successful candidate will perform hands-on independent and objective internal audits across all areas of financial management and related SAP information technology. The candidate will conduct audits included in the annual audit plan and proactively report on the effectiveness and efficiency of financial control across all corporate activities.

The purpose of this role is to perform independent and objective appraisals on the effectiveness of the policies, procedures and standards by which Qatalum’s financial resources are managed and reported. Deliver audits per Annual Audit plan

To support the Manager: Internal Audit in reviewing all procedures, processes and systems in place to ensure compliance with approved corporate policies and procedures
Adherence to and delivery of annual audit plan
To work with Qatalum management to ensure a system is in place which ensures that all major financial risks are identified and analysed on an annual basis Independent and objective reviews
To plan, organise and perform the internal audit assignments included in the annual audit plan. Deliver against annual audit plan
To undertake and prepare preliminary reviews, field work and work papers to a high standard to support all findings and recommendations as contained in draft reports presented to the Manager: Internal Audit. Objective quality assessment by Manager
To work with the external auditors and ensure that each party is not only aware of the other's work but also well briefed on areas of concern. Liaison with External auditors - feedback
To make recommendations on the systems and procedures being reviewed, report on the findings and recommendations and monitor/review management's response and timely implementation of agreed remedial actions. Management acceptance rate of reported findings, recommendations, and follow up remedial action plans
To report on the value for money that Qatalum delivers in all its financial activities with special regard to economy, efficiency and effectiveness Objective quality assessment by Manager

A recognised audit professional qualification
CA (Chartered Accountant)
CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
ACCA (Chartered Certified Accountant)
CIA (Certified Internal Auditor)
CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants)
ACA (Association of Chartered Accountants)
CIPFA (Public Finance Accountant)
Thorough knowledge of the principles, procedures and practices of accounting and financial records and transactions.
Optimum of 10 years experience gained within an internal audit department in manufacturing and/or suitable experience gained with the Big 4 serving clients in the manufacturing sector. Experience working with an Aluminium smelter advantageous but not essential.
Fluency in oral communication and reporting in English a prerequisite.
A sound proficiency of audit procedures, including planning, techniques, test and sampling methods involved in conducting audits
Proficiency in information technology, specifically SAP and Microsoft Office
Proficiency in applying COSO framework
An ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts and to prepare and present concise oral and written reports
An ability to maintain current knowledge of developments related to business matters of interest to internal audit, particularly changes and developments as they affect Qatalum, and new auditing techniques and practices
An ability to establish and retain effective working relationships with other Qatalum staff and to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
