OVERALL OBJECTIVE/ROLE:
Reporting to the Internal Audit Manager, the successful candidate will perform hands-on independent and objective appraisals to proactively challenge the status quo of business processes and management controls that impact on cost, quality and service across all corporate activities.
A recognised international professional financial qualification coupled with operational and project audit experience is essential, as is proficiency of SAP in a manufacturing environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The purpose of this role is to perform independent appraisals, from a financial and operational perspective, on controls governing the effectiveness, efficiency and value for money for project management, ongoing product delivery, health & safety and environment. Deliver audits per Annual Audit plan.

Identifies, analyzes, and evaluates Qatalum’s core business and supporting processes with the aim of achieving improvements in critical performance measures such as cost, quality and service.

Evaluate efficiency and effectiveness of the business process that exist across the Qatalum organization. Apply business process reengineering for redesigning the way work is done to improve asset utilization and reduce costs.

Challenge status quo. Review business processes from a "clean slate" perspective and determine how best to construct these processes to improve business processes and flow

Evaluating management procedures to align business innovation with corporate strategy to make improvements to business processes. Ensuring production, technical and support services are aligned.

Facilitate cross-functional teams from all service lines (core) and administration (non-core) to focus on process efficiency and effectiveness, improve internal and external customer service and cut operational costs.

Support the Manager: Internal Audit in reviewing all procedures, processes and systems in place to ensure compliance with corporate policies. Plan, organise and perform the internal audit assignments included in the annual audit plan.
Completion of audit plan to IIA standards
Undertake and prepare preliminary reviews, field work and work papers to a high standard to support all findings and recommendations as contained in draft reports presented to the Manager: Internal Audit.
IIA Standards
Make recommendations on the systems and procedures being reviewed, report on the findings and recommendations and monitor/review management's response and timely implementation of agreed remedial actions.

SKILLS AND PROFILE:
A recognised business and financial qualification such as
Bachelor of Commerce (BCom)
Master Business Administration (MBA)
CIA (Certified Internal Auditor)
Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)
CA (Chartered Accountant)
CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
Experience on focusing on project management, process reengineering, ISO standards. This implies a proficiency in the techniques, methodology, principles, procedures and practices of project management, process optimization, value for money, and supply chain management,
Optimum of 10 years international experience gained in manufacturing and/or suitable experience gained with a Big 4 serving clients in the manufacturing sector. Experience working with an Aluminium smelter advantageous but not essential.
Proficiency in applying COSO framework
A sound proficiency of review and audit procedures, including planning, techniques, test and sampling methods involved in conducting audits
Proficiency in information technology, specifically SAP and Microsoft Office
An ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts and to prepare and present concise oral and written reports
Fluency in oral communication and reporting in English a prerequisite.
An ability to maintain current knowledge of developments related to business matters of interest to internal audit, particularly changes and developments as they affect Qatalum, and new auditing techniques and practices
An ability to establish and retain effective working relationships with other Qatalum staff and to communicate clearly and effectively
