Senior Buyer

PURPOSE OF WORK:
- To assist the procurement department in capturing identified potential cost savings using “best in class” purchasing practices in material purchases and service contracts.
- Cost savings to be captured by the use of total cost of ownership, purchase of quality items from low cost countries, and reverse engineering of spare parts.
- To work within a team of buyers and users to achieve identified cost savings in the purchase of mechanical, process or fabrication commodities from worldwide suppliers and contractors using modern purchasing techniques. Goods must conform to the required standards and delivery time, in accordance with Company's accepted purchasing practices. Additionally, the Senior Buyer will also perform the same duties as a Buyer being directly involved in the more technical/sensitive issues of the purchase of mechanical, process or fabrication commodities and be responsible for the correct and timely supply of the goods purchased.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- BSc. in a Technical, Business or Economics discipline or equivalent. Ideally a member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply. Minimum 15 years purchasing experience within petrochemical or associated industry of which 10 years having been in a supervisory capacity.
- The successful candidate is expected to be a dynamic, top class professional an fully experienced in materials purchases and service contracts. He should have previously worked in a “best in class” purchasing environment and be able to demonstrate a proven track record of previous cost savings and be fully conversant with all modern purchasing techniques. A previous influential role in purchases involving total cost of ownership, quality items from low cost countries, and reverse engineering would be considered an advantage.
