Senior Reservoir Engineer

Job Outline
Undertake reservoir engineering studies of the QP oilfields to optimize field development plans. Analyze reservoir and well performance data and develop reservoir surveillance programs. Conduct reservoir management activities.  Participate in interdisciplinary reservoir study teams.  Prepare detailed/integrated development plans for underdeveloped hydrocarbon resources.  Develop and mentor less experienced staff

Required experience and expertise

  • Prefer 15+ years experience in reservoir engineering activities emphasizing large carbonate reservoirs
  • Significant experience working on mature oil fields under water flood
  • Strong background in reservoir surveillance and optimisation
  • Experience in reservoir fluid sampling, fluid property modelling, routine and special core analysis.
  • Strong background in well test interpretation, material balance modelling and performance modelling of vertical and horizontal wells
  • Experience in reserves evaluation, classification, and booking

Petroleum Engineer

Job Outline
Provide Petroleum Engineering support for QP oil fields. This includes all aspects of drilling, well completion and workover activities, from job design to on-site implementation.  Conduct well surveillance, including performance modelling and interpretation.  Conduct reservoir management activities.  Participate in interdisciplinary reservoir study teams. 

Required experience and expertise

  • Prefer 10+ years work experience as a Petroleum Engineer in the Oil and Gas industry with demonstrated Surveillance/Production Engineering expertise in optimizing well production in large oil and gas fields. 
  • Proven experience at recommending remedial wellwork solutions for horizontal wells in heterogeneous oil reservoirs with variable geo-layer parameters: porosity, permeability, water saturation, thickness, etc.
  • Experience with well testing and allocation of well test/production data. 
  • In-depth understanding of production separation equipment, metering equipment, and allocation of production data to balance with field meter data.  
  • Experience with tubing & IPR modelling and Gas Lift design/troubleshooting.
  • Experience with interpretation of cased hole production and diagnostic logs
  • Must have strong teamwork skills.  Experience working in a multicultural environment is a plus

Petrophysicist

Job Outline
Plan, supervise, coordinate and control the collection, analysis and evaluation of petrophysical data for well and reservoir studies in order to generate appropriate field development plans. Provide Petrophysical support for QP oil fields. Conduct reservoir management activities.  Participate in interdisciplinary reservoir study teams. 

Required experience and expertise

  • Prefer 10+ years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry, with at least 6 years experience doing Petrophysical studies/operations. Must have a thorough understanding of open hole (both wire line and LWD), cased hole and production logging tools
  • Experience in carbonate reservoirs.
  • Experience in statistical and pattern recognition techniques (Neural networks, fuzzy logic, and multidimensional histograms) techniques.
  • Must have strong teamwork skills.  Experience working in a multicultural environment is a plus
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with peers, less experienced staff, field staff, and management
  • Must have experience/knowledge of current computer software for petrophysical applications

Production Geologist

Job Description

Undertake geological studies of the reservoirs to optimize field development plans. Conduct reservoir management activities.  Participate in interdisciplinary reservoir study teams.  

Required experience and expertise

  • Prefer 10+ years work experience as Production Geologist. Must have undertaken field and reservoir studies and worked closely with geophysicists, petrophysicists and reservoir engineers.
  • Must have worked on mature producing fields where the integration of production data has been used to constrain their maps and interpretations.
  • Experience in the application of sequence stratigraphic concepts and methods.
  • Must have strong teamwork skills.  Experience working in a multicultural environment is a plus
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with peers, field staff, and management
  • Must have experience/knowledge of current computer software for production geology applications
  • BSc Geology, with a Master’s or PhD degree preferred

Senior Technical Assistant (FD)

If you are looking for challenging and exciting work, QP offers great opportunities in both reservoir management of current oil production, and in ongoing reservoir studies projects. QP operates three major oil fields with current production in excess of 400,000 b/d.  QP is also undertaking integrated full field studies of all its major oil reservoirs. These are significant, large scale projects spanning multiple years, involving integration of all the subsurface data into comprehensive full field reservoir models. We use the latest industry software such as Petrel & Eclipse and have very large datasets to work with. The work is complex, challenging and very fulfilling. You will have the opportunity to contribute directly to the future development of these supergiant QP operated oil fields.

Job Description

Provide technical support to engineers and geoscientists working on the development, surveillance,  and operation of QP operated oil fields.  Maintain, quality control, update, and extract data from technical databases and files in support of surveillance and operations activities.  Develop custom spreadsheets and applications as needed.  Run standard upstream software packages for engineering and geoscience applications, and provide technical support on this software to senior staff.  Write and execute custom scripts and enquiries as needed to manipulate data and deliver it in usable format.  Provide guidance and training to less experienced TA staff.

Required experience and expertise

  • Must have 6 years work experience.
  • Must have worked supporting technical teams in engineering or geoscience applications. 
  • Must have strong PC skills and be knowledgeable in MSOffice (including Excel and Access)
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Must have strong teamwork skills.  Experience working in a multicultural environment is a plus
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with peers, technical staff, and management.
  • Minimum of two year technical diploma in relevant subject.  BSc in technical discipline preferred.

Head of Advanced Oil Recovery (EOR)

Job Outline
Plans, co-ordinates and directs the EOR group of the MM & BH Development Division for  the QP operated Maydan Mahzam and Bul Hanine oil development projects. The Head Is responsible for the development of an appropriate EOR strategy that will maximize ultimate HC recovery from BH & MM reservoirs. Responsible for screening potential EOR processes for these mature giant carbonate reservoirs, and for preparing and stewarding the section work programme and budget. Also provides long-term production forecasts for potential EOR process as part of the corporation’s business plan. Works closely with other Heads and   managers to recommend and implement Pilot Tests of appropriate  EOR process(es), prior to full field implementation.  Leads an integrated team of 5 experienced geologists and engineers.

Required experience and expertise

  • Prefer 20+ years experience in reservoir engineering activity emphasizing large/giant carbonate reservoirs with at least 10 years of hands on experience spent in EOR activity.
  • Master’s degree (M.S.) or Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering or Petroleum Engineering or related subjects with appropriate levels of experience.  B.S. degree with demonstrated technical capabilities also acceptable.
  • Must be knowledgeable and experienced with at least one the following EOR processes: 
    • Chemical processes for waterflood enhancement (i.e polymer and/or surfactant flooding).
    • Miscible and immiscible gas injection processes, (i.e cycling in gas-condensate reservoirs systems, miscible or near-miscible CO2 injection for light oil, or WAG processes.)
  • Must have strong experience in numerical reservoir simulation in particular using Eclipse-300 for EOR studies, history matching (giant fields) of reservoirs under water flood, phase behavior and fluid property modeling.
  • Must have a track record of effectively leading multidisciplinary, subsurface EOR teams.

Desirable Experience and Expertise

  • Desirable to have strong knowledge on lab process (rock and fluid) in order to define the SCAL program for EOR purposes.
  • Desirable to be experienced with near-wellbore conformance applications, production and injection performance, well testing, pressure data and monitoring.
  • Desirable to have knowledge on specific productivity/injectivity items like hydrate formation, or condensate banking.
  • Desirable to have knowledge of geostatistics, integrated reservoir characterization, fault and fracture studies.
  • Petrophysical rock property mapping, computer mapping, as well as risk assessment/management is desirable.
